A Few Things I'm Excited About Right Now...

Gonna keep this post short and sweet ‘cause I have a kid covered in an odd rash.
(I’m sure he’d be thrilled to know I just put that all over the internet.)

A few things I am excited about right now (Definitely not in order of importance, as you'll soon discover):

  • I just rocked my first rainbow loom bracelet.

This may not feel life changing to you, but my seven year-old officially think I’m a cool mom.

  • Divergent, the movie, comes out on my birthday! I already have tix and plan to send you an article by my friend Catherine reviewing the books and the movies.

  • I spent International Women’s Day with Chicago Women of Vision, World Vision’s arm dedicated to empowering and advocating for women and children around the world. It doesn’t take much to make a huge difference. If you'd like to learn more about the Strong Women, Strong World Initiative, go here.  A gift of as little as $10 can provide health care training or shelter for a mother and child in need.
  • As part of the West Chicago Anti-Trafficking Alliance prayer team, I have the privilege of praying through email requests. This Lenten season, we are praying for the spirit of Isaiah 58:6: "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?” Wondering if you’d stop right now and take a minute to pray with me? Pray Isaiah 58:6 over all the women in our area, and worldwide, who are in physical and spiritual captivity. Pray for God to set them free.
  • Finally, I am going through Angela Thomas’s new bible study, Stronger, with my small group. This quote made me think of you Shameless Women, so I thought I’d share: “Too many of us have become the women we think we are, instead of the women Christ declares we can be."
Proverbs 23:7 says, For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” (NASB)

In other words, it matters how you think about yourself.

Next time you find yourself thinking any of those old thought patterns (I’m so fat. I can’t overcome this. I’m not as good as them.) Remember the woman Christ declares you to be:

You are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8).
You are a new creation (2nd Corinthians 5:17).
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139).

What about you? Is there anything you are particularly excited about right now? Are you praying through anything, or giving anything up this Lenten season?

Liked the short & sweet post, Aubrey! I am going to check out Women of Vision seems awesome! And I can't wait to read the review of Divergent, I've been wondering of it's worth seeing.
