“Slavery is founded in the selfishness of man’s nature—opposition to it, in his love of justice”

President Lincoln, 1854
I attended a gathering for Women at Risk, International on the anniversary of Lincoln giving a speech in NYC on the abolition of slavery. I spent the night tossing and turning and I woke up crying; God what do you want me to do?
Over 2 million children are victims of human trafficking, including babies who are sold daily for sex and believe it or not, to be eaten. In some countries there are cultural beliefs that eating a baby will increase a man’s virility; having sex with a baby will cure AIDS. I witnessed that teaching firsthand while living in Africa.
This morning I contacted a couple of organizations and will bring you more information asap. In the meantime sign your name on a letter that International JusticeMission is sending to President Obama, demanding the US intervene and end slavery. They are looking for 72,000 signatures.
Sign your name and stand for freedom here.
Tonight as I pray over my three boys—each named after a historical or biblical person who fought for justice—I add these little forgotten ones to my prayer list. Remember to pray for them.
You, who are so violently maligned, enduring horrific abuse, I speak this over you:
You are loved bigger and better and purer that I could ever express.
You deserve more than this.
You are precious and lovely and adorable.
There are mommy’s all over the world who would give their own lives to hold you.
To deliver you.
To snuggle you and spoil you.
Precious one, I am praying justice for you this moment.
I am praying rescue.
I am praying an end.
I am praying redemption.
I am praying mighty-intervention, holy-justice, and the fury-of-heaven-salvation for you.
“Can a mother forget her nursing child? And have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget. I will not forget you.” Isaiah 49:15
God, remember your word. Remember your children.
