Day 26: The Power of God’s Word to Overcome Shame – Shame may be loud, but God’s word is always louder. Go back to God’s Word again and again, because his truth is able to conquer any of the lies shame throws your way. The following list contains some of my favorite Scriptures on overcoming shame. You can find the entire list in Overcomer. May they speak to you as powerfully as they have spoken to me.

Scripture

I Praise You, Jesus, Because …

Genesis 2:25

“Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.”

You are the creator of all, and you designed me to live without shame.

Psalm 25:3

“No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.”

When I put my hope in you, I am never left feeling ashamed. You do not ignore those who take advantage of others.

Psalm 34:5

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”

You change my shame to beaming, radiant joy.

Isaiah 54:4

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.”

In you, I do not fear shame or disgrace. You remove the shame from my life.

Consider: What is one of your go-to Bible verses when you need some encouragement against shame?

Prayer: God, your word is powerful enough to overcome anything shame throws my way. Help me to learn from you and stay faithful to you. Amen.
